Wow, I know it was only a mini conference but it packed a punch. I do want to say thanks to Russ and Niklas for the event and making it a great day. I also want to say hi to everyone I met and took the time to chat, too many mention (and remember) :o) oooo that tequilla can't of been good for me.
Hello Andy, Met you last night. Top day... this is just a quick comment to say hello.
I was just kinda surfin around on CFDeveloper and on Frappr looking at where people are n stuff. Funny though ... I went to Andy Jaretts Friend Map and there is only one person on there - which is you! :)
I think it is a case of geography - the 2 user groups are located at either end of the country and it makes it impractical for those in the middle of the country to attend.
I did talk to a few people yesterday though who may be interested in forming a northern england group covering basically the M62 corridor, so we will have to see if that comes to fruition.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself yesterday - and winning an ipod was the icing on the cake :-)
I live in Newcastle. I ran meetings here, Leeds, York and Edinburgh for something like 2 years with the help of a friend and colleague.
In the end I had to give it up. The turn out was near non-existant - no one location was good enough for the members and they refused point-blank to travel to a neighbouring city eg. the folks in Leeds wouldn't come to York, those in York wouldn't come to Newcastle or Leeds and so on. It was soul destroying.
I now run the Scottish CFUG with Andy more as an online UG with the occasional get-together and a full blown conference at the end of May next year. While I think on it.... The next SCFUG meeting is 8pm Thursday 23rd of Nov - Rob Gonda will be giving us a CF/AJAX presentation.
